Pungko-Pungko is a unique eating experience famous in Cebu City. It's basically sitting on a low bench while enjoying a variety of fried foods in front of you. Ginabut or Chicharong bulak-bulak is one of the famous food in the table. It is called pork-crackling in English made from pig intestines after they are dried, added seasoning, and then deep-fried to golden brown perfection. I have been wishing to eat Ginabut every time I'm in Cebu but I always have no luck. I was cock-a-hoop after hearing that Marjuniel's Pungko2x is opening today.
As expected, the dish was chewy and savory especially when dipped in vinegar. We also tried their Ngohiong, Bola-bola, Lumpia, their piquant Batchoy and added some carbs (Puso) to make our meal perfect.
The prices are affordable: Lumpia - P10, Batchoy -P40, Ginabut- P20, Ngohiong- P15 and Bola-Bola - P10.
The place was enveloped by the combined aroma of Filipino favorites. The chair-table set up is ironic from the "Pungko-pungko" concept. They assured comfort to all customers by providing plushy chairs instead of low bench.
However, I suggest eating there during the afternoon when the warm of the city is not that harsh.
If you want to have a unique pinoy meal experience, I recommend eating at Marjuniel's Yummy Batchoy and Pungko2x. They are located at the Osmena Street, Corner J. Navarro Street, Ormoc City. Just near the Van-van's V-hire.
