As me and my food buddy are having a hard time looking for a place to eat lunch while feeling uncomfortable with the warm ambiance of the city, we came a cross with a newly opened paradise. Well, I can call it paradise since at first glance from the outside, it can really save us from the uneasiness feeling outside and seriously, we are sweating bullets. It is a cafe near the church and just in front of a burger joint. The place is Amore Cafe and Wine.
From the outside, it looks inviting. But, you wouldn't be disappointed from the second you opened the door and feel the inside ambiance. It is comfortable and tranquil. The interior is modern and light. This is a place we were looking for that time. So, we scrolled over the menu and ordered a plate of Mee Goreng - Indonesian noodles with chicken and prawn cooked in a sweet and spicy soy sauce with an egg on top- and Fish and Chips - battered fish served with fries and tartar sauce. I've read about this cafe before that day and many recommended to order smoothies because they were the best. So, we ordered for each of us. 1 mango and 1 strawberry smoothie.
The Indonesian dish was good - the spicy sauce surely blended well with the taste of the yellow noodle fried with prawn, chicken, vegetables and I also felt the taste of paprika - but, I did not really feel its sweetness. Well, I love sweet foods. Also, the battered fish in the other dish was delicious - the fish meat was soft and it absorbed the seasoning - so, every bite was special. Although, the fries was quite salty (just ask the cook to put a little salt on it when you order). The smoothies on the other hand were luscious. They were blended well and you can taste the goodness of the syrup and fresh fruit in it.
They also offer a lot of varieties of flavored smoothies, frappe, iced tea , hot tea and different kinds of coffee like Espresso, Long Black, Flat White, Cappuccino and Latte. Also, booze are available from cocktail and mixed drinks (Pina Colada, Mai Tai, Margarita and etc) to beers. The place is actually ideal for night hang-outs with barkada or loved ones. You must also try their wine and imported spirits.
The food in their menu are affordable. You might want to try their pic-pica offers like buffalo wings, texas chili fries, vegetarian spring rolls and etc. Or, feel the goodness of their main meals like fish and chips, spaghetti carbonara, spaghetti & meatballs (best-seller), Moroccan Vegetable Curry, Amore Special Salad and etc.
Amore Cafe and Wine is located at the Arradaza Street Corne, Lopez Jaena, Ormoc City near Saint Peter College of Ormoc. I recommend this cafe if you are looking for a place to chill and get full.
